About
Biography

Kiana has been developing as an artist for over 25 years.  Although she likes to paint a wide variety of subjects, she especially enjoys painting flowers, plants, people and, most particularly, animals.  Working in watercolor, acrylic and oil, she strives to create an heirloom that can be passed down from generation to generation.  She uses only the finest quality materials available to ensure the longevity of the painting.

Kiana has shown her work in group and solo shows.  She also had a piece in the Oil Painters of America Western Regional Art Show in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho, in 2008.  Her painting “Backcountry Portal” received the People’s Choice Award during the Western Heritage Days Art Show in Stevensville, Montana, in 2008.  Her work sells both locally and nationally thanks to the World Wide Web.  To view her most current works in progress, visit her blog at www.KianaFecteau.blogspot.com.

Kiana makes her home in the beautiful Bitterroot Valley of Montana.  She is an active member of the Stevensville Art & Sculpture Society as well as the Bitterroot Arts Guild.

Artist’s Statement

Generally, I like my paintings to speak for themselves.  I am motivated by the challenge of painting different subjects and using a variety of mediums to give the impression of texture and form on a 2-dimensional surface.

When I paint, I usually work with my face close to the surface.  I focus so closely on colors and shapes that when I step back I often have a “Whoa! That’s so cool!” moment.  It’s magical to see how all these little bits of shape and color can create the impression of real objects.

It is also very gratifying when people have a personal connection to my art.  My greatest satisfaction comes when someone has an emotional response to a portrait that I have created specifically for them.  I enjoy working closely with clients to ensure that the finished product exceeds their expectations.
